The Role: We invite you to join us as a Specialist Psychiatrist on Moorland View, a new role working alongside a consultant nurse approved clinician (MPAC) and a cohesive MDT to provide senior medical input to this purpose built 16 bedded ward situated in Barnstaple in North Devon.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be providing the senior medical leadership within an Acute psychiatric ward in North Devon

The post holder will be available 9-5 Monday to Friday. The post holder will be based in North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple

The post holder will work within MDT and offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients on Moorland View psychiatric ward, as well as other expert clinical services in support of patients and their families/carers as judged necessary.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent
  • GMC registration.

Desirable

  • Membership or Affiliateship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
  • Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 12 years medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
