Join Liaison Psychiatry in Exeter!
We are looking for a Clinical Practice Lead to join our established Liaison Psychiatry team in Exeter. This role would be predominantly focusing on the Integrated Psychological Medicine pathway working alongside the Practice Lead who predominantly leads on the Acute Care Pathway and Inpatient pathway.
Liaison Psychiatry services specialise in the interface between medicine and psychiatry, the team provide a 24/7 service that accepts referrals for both inpatient wards and those presenting to the Emergency Department.
A key aim of the service is to ensure that those persons who present to the DGH receive a timely specialist mental health assessment by a specialist mental health worker. A significant proportion of these presentations will be those who present with acts of self-harm and suicidal behaviours.
The team also offer support and assessment to people aged 18 and above in the general hospital with a primary or secondary mental health condition. This is often alongside medical needs and includes those with Medically Unexplained Symptoms and long-term health conditions.
The post holder would be expected to support a large team that includes Nurses, OT's, Social Workers, AP's, Psychologists, Consultants and Admin. The role would be Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 to support the more complex presentations. At times these hours could be different in response to changes in workload.

The Practice Lead role would be an ideal position for someone who is passionate about mind and body links and how we can support those with complex presentations in hospital settings.
In this role the candidate would be expected to engage with clinical practice, education, quality improvement, audit, compliance with CQC and PLAN accreditation standards, SUI's, complaints and associated learning.
The candidate would ensure clinicians work within DPT policy and practice standards, and that they adhere to professional registration. The candidate would be an effective role model for clinical excellence, they would be expected to demonstrate visible leadership and take responsibility for ensuring a therapeutic environment, as well as leading on the professional development of the practitioners within the team.
The role includes teaching and training for acute staff as well as offering supervision and debrief to help develop integrated pathways of care for all patients referred to the service. The candidate would be expected to work to further improve practice, using the principles of positive risk management and new ways of working, and enhance appropriate clinical pathways.
