We are looking to recruit a motivated and caring Community Support Worker to join our busy and dynamic mental health team. Our service covers most of the Teignbridge area, delivering high-quality, compassionate care to adults with a range of mental health needs.

As a Community Support Worker within the Teign Core CMHT, you will play a vital role in supporting our service users to work towards improved wellbeing and recovery. You will need to demonstrate flexibility, a strong commitment to delivering high standards of patient care, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and confidence in using your own initiative when delivering planned care are essential.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will:

  • Work collaboratively with service users to help them achieve their optimum level of wellbeing and recovery.
  • Support individuals in developing personalised recovery plans tailored to their goals and needs.
  • Network with community resources, organisations, and partners to support holistic care.
  • Complete physical health monitoring, ensuring any concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Assist service users in accessing peer-led support services and wider community networks.
  • Contribute to a safe, therapeutic, and person-centred service environment.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous employment / experience of working with people in a caring situation or previous experience working in a different role within mental health services

Desirable

  • Previous care experience with people who have Mental Health difficulties.

Qualifications

Essential

  • To complete the Care Certificate within the first 6 months of employment unless already obtained or evidence of equivalent agreed and signed off by the appointing manager at interview. If not, this will be a trainee position until successful completion

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3, QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Other evidence of training or development relevant to working within mental health settings.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Awareness of safeguarding principles
  • IT skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to make and sustain professional therapeutic relationships
  • Mobility throughout the area covered by the trust

Desirable

  • Knowledge of mental health and a basic understanding of physical health presentations.
