We are delighted to offer a new opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the newly established Clozapine Community Initiation Team, a pioneering service designed to improve access to clozapine treatment for individuals with treatment-resistant schizophrenia.

This role is ideal for a current DPT Consultant looking to broaden their clinical impact, contribute to service innovation, and work collaboratively across the Trust to improve patient outcomes.

About the Role

This 4 PA post will provide clinical leadership and oversight to the Clozapine Community Initiation Team, supporting safe and effective initiation of clozapine outside of hospital settings. You will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, patients, and carers to ensure high-quality care and continuity throughout the initiation process.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Clozapine Community Initiation Team across DPT.
  • Assess suitability for clozapine treatment and manage initiation in the community.
  • Register patients with monitoring services and maintain consultant responsibility during initiation.
  • Monitor physical health and blood results, providing expert clinical advice.
  • Evaluate mental state and treatment response throughout initiation.
  • Offer specialist guidance to prescribers and healthcare professionals across the Trust.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols, safety briefings, and prescribing guidelines.
