Job summary
The Torbay South and West Devon Specialist Team for Early Psychosis (STEP) is looking for a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist for Psychosis. This post will cover the whole locality area of Torbay, South and West Devon.
The principal purpose of the job is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people within an identified Devon locality.
The post holder will be part of a Specialist Team for Early Psychosis (STEP) service and will provide CBT interventions for people with a first episode psychosis and for people with an At Risk Mental State (ARMS). The post holder will work with clients who have a range of complex mental health related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
The post holder will act as a lead specialist for STEP, providing professional clinical supervision to less experienced staff, trainees & students, and contributing to the leadership of the local service under the direction of the Team Manager and Clinical Psychologist.
STEP provides a service for people between the ages of 14 - 65 who are experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis (FEP) or At Risk Mental States (ARMS).
Main duties of the job
1. Providing CBT for Psychosis to a caseload of 12 clients per WTE as dictated by the evidence base.
2. Provide supervision and / or training to team colleagues around CBT informed practice and to support STEP colleagues training to achieve any qualifications in CBT
3. Ensuring the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (eg NMC, HCPC, BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
4. Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with team managers and other senior staff where necessary and as part of the professional development review and continuing professional development.
5. Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.
6. Maintain up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.
7. Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
