Job summary

We are searching for a full time (37.5 hours per week) Band 5 Registered Occupational Therapist to join us on Delderfield ward, Exeter. Delderfield ward is a 16 bed inpatient Mental Health Ward that supports adults with mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist on our adult inpatient mental health ward, you will assess patients functional and mental health needs and develop interventions that promote independence and wellbeing. You will deliver individual and group therapy, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care and effective discharge planning, and adapt treatments based on patient progress. You will also educate and support patients and families throughout recovery. Accurate record-keeping and contributing to service development are essential to this impactful role.

  • Clear understanding of core OT skills and theory
  • Awareness of the implications of long-term institutional care
  • Understanding of team dynamics
  • Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice including CPA and risk assessment management
  • Awareness of legal implications of the Mental Health Health Act and other legal frameworks specific to the setting

Experience
