An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to
join our inpatient team at Franklyn Hospital, Exeter as a Senior Occupational
Therapist (Band 6). Applications will be considered for full-time and part-time
applications.
Rougemont Ward is
a 16 bedded acute psychiatric ward for older adults which provides high quality care and treatment for people who have complex health needs and a functional illness. We are looking to appoint a motivated individual who is
passionate about caring for older people. The role of the Senior OT is an extremely
dynamic and rewarding role. The successful candidate will be an active
participant in the MDT process providing advice and support to the MDT Team
on Rougemont Ward, ensuring professional representation in the local decision-making
process and an awareness of the contribution of OT in an acute OPMH setting. You
will also help the team by completing comprehensive OT assessments to

Main duties of the job
- Assess and treat own specialist caseload of clients within OPMH inpatient setting
- Act as clinical OT within the service, ensuring effective planning and delivery of the service and manage a small team ensuring effective planning and delivery of the service
- To ensure supervision of OT and OTA staff within Rougemont Ward is to a high standard
- Contribute to the development of a high quality 7 day occupational therapy service through the professional clinical governance frameworks including audit
- Provide professional advice and expertise to the Rougemont Ward multi-disciplinary team
- Report to Rougemont Ward Manager and Professional OT Lead any OT and or professional issues and any operational issues.

- Lead and supervise the Occupational Therapy staff, including preceptees and students on Clinical Practice Placement.

- Plan and implement individual and/or group Occupational Therapy interventions in collaboration with the service users, and enable service users skills development through the implementation and use of occupational therapy knowledge and skills.
- Participate in audits to ensure that accurate, up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional and Trust standards and ensuring all staff they line manage follow the same principles and processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of planned interventions in order to measure progress and make any necessary relevant modifications.
Responsibility for Policy and Service Development Implementation
- Review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of clinical and management supervision and appraisal as per Departmental and Trust Policy.
- Engage in core clinical governance activities by contributing to the planning, evaluation and audit of practice, clinical pathways and protocols within designated area.
- Responsible for maintaining own competency to practice at Band 6 Occupational Therapy through CPD activities and to maintain an up to date portfolio which reflects personal development, knowledge of current techniques and approaches in Occupational Therapy.
