Job summary

We are looking for a Band 3 Health Care Professional to join our highly skilled nursing team based at The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic, in Exeter.

We support Trans and non-binary adults to receive treatment tailored to their unique experiences of gender incongruence, offering specialist gender assessments and treatment plans, specific gender focused psychological therapy, speech and language therapy, specialist medical consultations, and surgical referrals.

This is a truly specialist area, offering unique care to a diverse group of clients. The work is interesting, rewarding, and can genuinely affect peoples lives for the better.

Main duties of the job

To assist multi-disciplinary team members in the delivery of care and treatment to people using the gender service. The care provided will encompass social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of the individuals.

Be responsible for undertaking procedures under the supervision of trained nursing staff.

  • If equivalent qualification is not already obtained, to complete QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care within 12 months of commencing employment.

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3, QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Other evidence of training or development relevant to working within mental health settings.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous employment and experience of working with people in a caring situation or previous experience working in a different role within mental health services.
  • Awareness of safeguarding principles.
  • IT skills.

Desirable

  • Previous care experience with people who have gender dysphoria.
  • Knowledge of mental health and a basic understanding of physical health presentations.
