Devon Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and proactive Band 4 Business Administrator to join the TALKWORKS Taw Team in North Devon. Based in Barnstaple, this is a key role in providing high-quality administrative and business support to a busy and dynamic psychological therapies team.

About the Role

TALKWORKS is Devons primary care NHS Talking Therapies, previously known as, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, delivering brief structured psychological therapy. As a Business Administrator, you will be integral to the smooth running of the service supporting clinicians, coordinating referrals, managing systems, and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the team.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in an administrative or business support role (ideally within the NHS or healthcare setting / primary care talking therapy).
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident working independently and as part of a team.
  • Has strong IT skills, with experience using Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Is highly organised, flexible, and able to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Is passionate about supporting mental health services and making a difference in their community.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Line manage Band 3 Administrators
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and business support to clinical and managerial staff.
  • Manage referrals and appointment systems, ensuring patient data is handled confidentially and efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and meeting documentation.
  • Monitor performance data and contribute to the delivery of key performance indicators.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support patient care pathways.
  • Contribute to service development through innovation and continuous improvement in admin processes.
