Main duties of the job
As an advanced specialist pharmacist, the postholder will provide expert guidance on the management of individuals with complex psychosis across the Trust and contribute to the optimisation of their treatment working closely with rehab and other CMHTs across the Trust. The postholder will be responsible for setting up a community-based clozapine initiation service, building on the success of the pilot in the Exeter rehab team and expanding this to all areas of the Trust.
This post will be the clinical lead for the Clozapine Community Initiation Service and will be instrumental in establishing this new service following approval of the full business case, including leading on recruitment of the team and the development of the necessary infrastructure to ensure successful operation of the service.
Timely access to clozapine is currently a clinically unmet need for many patients with complex psychosis in Devon. Reducing the need for an inpatient admission will enable more people to be initiated on the drug and benefit from this highly effective treatment.
