Job summary
We are excited to be
recruiting a Band 8a Operations Manager to lead the Urgent Care Pathway within
Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD). This is offered as a fixed-term
contract or secondment opportunity for 6 months. This is a countywide role but
can be based in any of our CFHD hubs. This is an excellent opportunity for a
dynamic and experienced leader to oversee and develop urgent mental health
services for children and young people across Devon.
The Urgent Care Pathway
provides rapid assessment and intervention for children and young people
experiencing acute mental health crises, ensuring timely access to appropriate
support. As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day
leadership, strategic development, and performance management of the pathway,
working with multi-disciplinary teams, system partners, and
external agencies.
You will play a crucial
role in service development and improvement, ensuring the pathway aligns with
national and local priorities, including the NHS Long Term Plan and i-THRIVE
model. You will also ensure that care is evidence-based, outcomes-focused, and
co-produced with young people and families.

Main duties of the job
- Provide operational leadership for the Urgent Care Pathway,
ensuring the delivery of high-quality, responsive services.
- Oversee daily service operations, including capacity management,
workforce planning, and service delivery.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team, providing supervision, support, and
professional development opportunities.
- Work in partnership with other CFHD pathways, acute hospital
trusts, social care, and other agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to
crisis care.
- Monitor performance and outcomes, using data to drive service
improvements and ensure key targets are met.
- Develop and implement service improvement initiatives, aligning
with NHS priorities and best practice guidelines.
- Manage financial and resource planning, ensuring the service
operates within budget.
- Lead on risk and quality assurance, ensuring safeguarding and
clinical governance policies are followed.
- Engage with young people, families, and carers, embedding
co-production in service design and delivery.
