Job summary

We are looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic qualified Family Therapist (0.5 wte / 18.75 hours per week) to join our Psychology and Psychological Therapies Team in our Eastern locality. This locality includes Exeter, Honiton and Exmouth.

We believe that a systemic perspective is an essential component to an overall understanding of mental and physical wellbeing and a robust Family Therapy Service is therefore an indispensable aspect of efficient and compassionate Mental Health Services.

You will have experience of Adult Mental Health Community settings, provision of supervision and working in multidisciplinary teams. The post requires good clinical leadership skills, to help support and develop Family and Systemic practice across the teams. Expanding Family Therapy provision and systemic practice is a key developmental aim of PPT; you will therefore be involved in directing and informing a strategic plan alongside Family Therapist colleagues.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with colleagues in the Adult Mental Health Directorate to ensure sound systemic and family-orientated practices are embedded throughout all provision as the Trust continues to implement the Community Mental health Framework. This is in line with the Trusts values and commitment to Think Family across all its activities. Family Therapists are vital to helping to identify and implement initiatives that support this aim, encouraging all to adopt a systematic perspective.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to service development, research, evaluation and quality improvement,

We believe high quality psychological services are best achieved by looking after the wellbeing of staff and by supporting the development of a learning culture across our services.

You will participate in the creation of this learning culture through the provision of training clinics to support local MSc and Intermediate Family Therapy courses, together with placements for trainees from the local DClinPsy and DCounsPsych training courses (Exeter, Plymouth and Bristol).

You will also benefit from opportunities to meet regularly with other psychologists and psychological therapists for CPD events and discussions about issues relating to the consistent provision and development of psychological services for people with complex mental health needs. Regular clinical supervision will be provided.

Relocation package can be considered.
