We are excited to be advertising for Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioners with a range of skills and experience. We are keen to hear from professionals interested in supporting our new pathway model. There are multiple opportunities available, across a range of care-pathways, including working with Children in Care, or specialising in Neurodiversity, or working with those young people struggling with mood, emotions, and relationships. All of our pathways involve the opportunity to work with dedicated teams with ongoing training and supervision. Main duties of the job
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner in Children & Family Health Devon, your role is crucial in providing comprehensive and specialised mental health support to children and young people. Your main duties encompass a range of responsibilities, including assessment, intervention, and collaboration. You will conduct thorough mental health assessments, using a person-centered approach to understand the unique needs of each child. With this understanding, you will develop tailored care plans and implement evidence-based interventions to address their mental health concerns and promote their overall well-being.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, collaboration will be a key aspect of your role. You will provide consultation, advice, and training to colleagues, families, and partner agencies, fostering a collaborative approach to mental health care. Your contributions to multidisciplinary teams will ensure coordinated and integrated care for children and young people. You will support service development and improvement, participating in team meetings, engaging in development opportunities, and staying up to date with the latest research and best practices in child and adolescent mental health. By maintaining accurate and confidential records, adhering to safeguarding protocols, and prioritising the well-being of children and young people, you will make a significant impact in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of mental health services in children's NHS settings.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.
CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.
CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.
Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

Pathway:
In this pathway, Senior
Mental Health Practitioners work within a strong multi-disciplinary team,
providing assessments and therapy to children with severe, chronic and enduring
mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety-based disorders and Trauma.
You would work
with children, young people and families to understand their experiences and
presenting concerns in order to provide an appropriate evidence-based
intervention and work closely with other agencies to support the best outcomes.
Vulnerable Children pathway Children in
Care
The Children in Care service is a
county-wide pathway with locality hubs within it, which lends itself to the
location being negotiable dependent on individual need so long as service needs
can be met.
The appointed Senior Mental Health
Practitioner will work within a trauma informed multi-disciplinary team,
providing assessments and therapy to children with significant, complex and
enduring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety-based and
attachment or trauma-related difficulties. This may also include working with
unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.
You will be expected to work with
children, young people and their families and/or carers to understand their
experiences and presenting concerns in order to develop a collaborative
formulation and provide appropriate evidence-based intervention.
Information regarding the Neurodiversiy Pathway
The Neurodiversity
Pathway is a developing integrated pathway within CFHD. The Integrated
Neurodiversity Team provides specialist assessment and intervention for
children and young people and their families where the presenting need relates
to neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Condition, Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Tics and Tourette Syndrome.
The appointed
Senior Mental Health Practitioner will become a valuable member of the
multi-disciplinary working with colleagues including Clinical Psychology,
Speech and Language Therapy, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy, Systemic
Psychotherapy, and Mental Health Practitioners from a diverse range of
backgrounds. This provides an opportunity to work in a team with a strong
multidisciplinary ethos as well as collaborating with colleagues in other
pathways and working in partnership with other agencies.
