Job summary
We are looking for a Occupational Therapist to
work in our Home Treatment Team based at North Devon District Hospital. The
successful candidate will be working on a shift based rota (including
weekends). You will play an essential role in providing 24/7 specialist mental
health services to those who need them.
Our Home Treatment Team (HTT) is a community based service
who support people experiencing severe mental health issues and who require
'crisis' support. The aim of the team is to help people to manage and resolve
their crisis through assessment and treatment in their home environment. Our
Home Treatment Team also supports individuals who are being discharged from
psychiatric hospital, enabling them to continue their recovery at home.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated, recovery-focused, experienced band 6 Occupational Therapist to be part of an ever-evolving MDT within our North Devon Home Treatment Team.
The successful candidate will become part of a multi
disciplinary team carrying out Home Treatment Team assessments, creating
collaborative care plans that includes families/carers, and signposting to
appropriate agencies.
The role includes assessing the suitability of home
treatment for individuals presenting with acute mental illness or severe
distress, which can be safely managed in the person's home.
It will be your job to devise interventions that will help
people to recover. You will play a key role in a dynamic multidisciplinary
team, working with multiple agencies on a daily basis.

of training opportunities, that can help you develop the skills you need to
thrive in the job.
The post holder is required to hold a UK driving license to
carry out home visits in pool cars.

- -A professional qualification in OT, on the appropriate professional body register and hold current registration with no restrictions.

- -A recognised relevant qualification in Occupational Therapy

- -Training to level 3 in Safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff.
- -Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism.

- -Post registration experience working at band 5 in mental health care working in inpatient and community settings
- -Evidence of acting as clinician in charge on a regular basis;
- -Substantial experience of managing/leading a busy caseload of clients with a range of mental health conditions within a community setting and without supervision;
- -Working within a community mental health setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector.
- -Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
Desirable
- -Experience of clinically supervising junior and unqualified staff and mentoring students.
- -Evidence of following through specific pieces of work or projects as delegated by ward managers or others.
