Locum Appointment for Service (LAS CT1)

The closing date is 21 March 2026

Job summary

Are you looking for a rewarding role in an Outstanding-rated mental health Trust with excellent supervision, supportive teams, and no on-call commitments?

We are delighted to offer a Locum Appointment for Service (CT level) within our Older Adult Inpatient service at Seward Lodge, a 16-bed functional unit based in Hertford. This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor seeking to gain or consolidate experience in Old Age Psychiatry within a friendly, high-performing multidisciplinary team.

You will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist and clinical team to provide daily medical care, admission assessments, clinical reviews, and support ward rounds and discharge planning. The role offers wide exposure to psychiatric and physical health presentations in older adults and provides strong grounding for those considering specialty training.

HPFT is recognised nationally for high-quality care and innovation. We offer a comprehensive wellbeing package, supportive supervision, opportunities for clinical audit and QI involvement, and a positive working environment that reflects our values of being welcoming, kind, positive, respectful and professional.

We welcome applications from motivated and enthusiastic doctors with GMC registration and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

The appointment will begin on 1 April and will be in place for a fixed duration of four months.
