Job summary
The Adult Eating Disorders Intensive Treatment service in the east of England is reforming and recruiting two nurse practitioners who will act as eating disorder specialists. The team offers an alternative to Specialist Eating Disorder Unit admission for people who are able to stay at home and begin their recovery there.
The team will work both virtually and in person and the postholder will need to be able to travel across the east of England region when required. They will be a keyworker, supporting up to five patients to restore weight each week in order to avoid the need for inpatient admission. Together with the multi-disciplinary team, the postholder will use specialist knowledge to facilitate patient recovery and ensure physical and mental health risks are managed.
Main duties of the job
- Act as keyworker to a patient caseload
- Liaise with the CEDS team local to the service user
- Monitor the physical health of the service users, either directly or by supervising the senior support workers.
- Use clinical interventions in weekly keywork sessions
- Coordinate weekly review meetings
- Liaise effectively with the other members of the A-EDIT team
- Keep up to date with current thinking, research and guidance concerning the treatment of people with eating disorders
- Supervise the support workers and mentor any student nurses who are allocated to the team
