Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry - Aston Ward, Stevenage

About the Role Working alongside a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist, Core Trainee and FY1 doctor, you will provide high-quality clinical care to adults of working age on our 20-bedded acute inpatient ward. You will be a key member of the team, contributing to assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and delivery of safe, person-centred care.
You will also play an active role in the Trust's acute care pathway, working collaboratively with community teams, primary care, crisis services and other acute settings.
This role offers a balanced mix of direct clinical care (7.5 PAs) and supporting professional activities (2.5 PAs) in line with Royal College guidelines.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality medical care to inpatients including assessment, diagnosis, reviews and documentation
- Participate in MDT meetings, ward rounds and case discussions
- Liaise effectively with primary and secondary care colleagues
- Support physical health management, monitoring and medication-related assessments
- Fulfil Mental Health Act responsibilities under supervision (training supported)
- Contribute to audit, clinical governance and service development
- Engage in annual job planning, clinical supervision and appraisal
- Provide teaching and guidance to trainees and wider MDT staff
