Lead Resuscitation Practitioner

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic registered healthcare professional to come join our outstanding organisation, leading and shaping the future of the resuscitation service.

The Lead Resuscitation practitioner will work closely with the Physical Health and Education teams, and will develop strong professional working relationships with clinical teams across all of our Trust sites.

Main duties of the job

The Lead Resuscitation Practitioner is responsible for ensuring Trust staff are best prepared to manage any life-threatening emergencies encountered during their work by the provision of training, advising on the provision of emergency equipment, and the development of clinical polices and guidelines.

In conjunction with the Resuscitation Committee, the post holder will be responsible for strategic direction of the resuscitation service at HPFT.

The post holder will work with a high degree of autonomy, providing expert advice, training, and oversight on all aspects of Resuscitation advising staff throughout the organisation on issues relating to training, equipment and incident management and prevention.

They will lead the development and implementation of the Trust Resuscitation policy and procedures and will advise on the development of other clinical guidelines related to physical health matters.

  • Current NMC or HCPC registration
  • RC(UK) ALS instructor
  • Educated to Masters level in a healthcare related subject or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable

  • RC(UK) EPALS instructor
  • RC(UK) ALS course director
  • Leadership Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant relevant clinical experience in acute or pre-hospital care
  • Senior resuscitation practitioner/resus officer
  • Managing, supporting and co-ordinating the delivery of Nationally recognised courses
  • Experience of leading quality assurance programmes, including developing audits
  • Evidence of involvement in policy and clinical guideline development
  • Good organisational skills
  • Collaborative working with Learning and Development, and Medical Education Teams
  • Experience of formulating strategic plans that contribute to service delivery

  • Contribution to national and local clinical audit and research.
  • Experience of participating in the development and evaluation of learning resources
