Elm Ward, Kingsley Green is an 8 bedded Assessment and Treatment Unit for people with Learning Disabilities and is looking for caring and compassionate Nurses to come and join our team.

As our new Charge nurse, you will be welcomed into a safe and reassuring team, who inspire and encourage one another in being the best version of themselves for the benefit of those we care for.

Main duties of the job

This is a challenging but exciting opportunity that will enable development in specific skills such leadership and communication. This opportunity will be perfect for someone who is looking to work in a rewarding environment where no two days are the same.

Under the direction of the Team Leader, you will provide comprehensive professional and effective leadership, as well as clinical advice and expertise. Working hours involve shifts, including some nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Our service-users are our number one priority, and the multidisciplinary staff team are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment in which we can deliver the best quality care.

  • RMN / RLDN or Dip / Bsc (Hons) in Mental Health / Learning Disability Nursing
  • ENB 998 / Preceptorship and Mentorship

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Post registration experience at Band 5
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Experience of working in other clinical settings

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively within a multi-professional team

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of psychiatric / mental health diagnosis and treatments
  • Confidence to work autonomously, use own initiative and make decisions in complex situations.
  • Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information, where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathetic or reassuring skills are required
  • Experience of risk assessment and management
  • Attention to detail Leadership qualities
