Job summary
We are Seeking a Locum Appointment for Service (LAS ST4) in General Adult Psychiatry.
Dove ward is a newly established 16 bedded female only adult inpatient ward with comprehensive multi-disciplinary team, which will be operational from February 2026. There is an already established 18 bedded Acute Assessment Unit in Kingfisher court (Swift ward), which will become 18 bedded male only adult inpatient Acute Assessment & Treatment ward.
The Acute Assessment Unit provides a robust multidisciplinary assessment of all new acute adult admissions to HPFT (excluding those subject to Section 3 MHA) within 24 hours of admission, seven days of the week.
The Rationale for post development e aim is to offer least restrictive and safe care to patients who can be supported safely in the Community within 7 days; however, patients can undergo an intensive period of assessment and/or treatment for up to 28 days in AATU. The patients who are deemed to need longer admission would be transferred to a treatment ward within first 10 days of admission to AATU, for a longer period of treatment when indicated.
The aim of the AATU is to facilitate early discharge where appropriate. There is daily Crisis Team (CRHTT) clinical input to support the process.
