Job summary

We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant Psychologists to join our welcoming and psychologically-minded teams within the Early Memory Diagnosis and Support Service (EMDASS) in Hertfordshire. One post will be based in the Northwest (Hemel Hempstead) and one in the Southwest (Watford) of the county. Travel across the county may be required dependent on the needs of the service.

These posts offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience working alongside qualified Clinical Psychologists and other members of a skilled multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidates will support the delivery of high-quality psychological services, including contributing to the assessment of dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions, supporting neuropsychological assessment and formulation, and assisting in the development of psychologically-informed interventions.

The ideal candidates will share our values of offering compassionate and trauma-informed services and will demonstrate a strong interest in working with older people or other vulnerable client groups. There will be opportunities to support audit, service evaluation, research, and development projects, as well as to take part in training and team reflective practice.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will:

  • Undertake psychological assessments under supervision, including supporting the administration, scoring, and interpretation of standardised neuropsychological and other psychological measures
  • Support the preparation of psychological reports and psycho-educational materials
  • Assist in the delivery of neuropsychologically-informed groups and interventions for people living with memory difficulties and their families
  • Contribute to service development through audit, data collection, research, and evaluation projects
  • Liaise effectively with colleagues within multi-disciplinary teams, demonstrating excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with Trust and professional standards
  • Manage tasks and responsibilities set by the supervising Clinical Psychologists, whilst working independently on a day-to-day basis within agreed frameworks
  • Participate in regular supervision and CPD opportunities to support professional development.
