Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Music Therapist with a keen interest in perinatal mental health to join our team. The post holder will work 1 day a week in our mother and baby mental health unit, providing assessment, group and 1-1 Music Therapy interventions for mothers with acute mental health needs. Where appropriate, you will work with mother and baby together, with the aim of assisting the development of the bond.
You will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the care plans for the service users.
Arts therapies have a long history in HPFT and are well established. You will be part of the wider arts therapies HPFT network and will receive support from the Arts Therapies Professional Lead and Head of AHPs. Suitable clinical supervision will be provided or funded externally.You will have access to a Trust wide internal arts therapies CPD programme, offering skill sharing within the Trust, as well as external speakers.
Main duties of the job
- Provide Music Therapy clinical assessment and intervention to service users with acute mental health needs, who are in the mother and baby mental health unit.
- Facilitate music therapy with mother and baby together, where appropriate, with the aim of assisting the development of the bond between mother and baby.
- Provide expert opinion and assessment as part of the multi-disciplinary team
- Provide clinical supervision to arts therapists, other staff and students where required
- Lead on service innovations for perinatal/acute in agreement with manager and professional lead.
