Hertfordshire Community Perinatal Team (0.7WTE, 26.25 hours per week)
Applications are welcomed for a part-time Clinical or Counselling Psychologist post in the Hertfordshire Community Perinatal team (CPT). The CPT is a specialist multidisciplinary perinatal team serving the county of Hertfordshire. The team supports women with complex and significant mental health needs, through pregnancy and the postnatal period as well as working closely with maternity staff and providers of primary, secondary and inpatient care.
The post-holder will have varied responsibilities; offering psychological assessments, the delivery of individual and group evidence-based psychological interventions in order to support the mother-infant relationship, offering supervision and reflective practice to a range of junior psychology colleagues and the wider MDT, service development and audit, teaching and training to MDT and healthcare colleagues as well as liaison and consultation.
A driving license and access to a car will be essential for this position.

Main duties of the job
To contribute to the running of a highly specialised perinatal psychology service for women who are pregnant, or up to 2 years postnatal, with, or at risk of, a wide range of mental health problems including complex and severe difficulties, such as Complex Trauma, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and Bipolar Disorder.
To aid in the assessment, formulation and care planning of women in the perinatal period, as well as the mother-infant dyad and to provide and evaluate a range of high-quality, evidence-based perinatal-specific psychological interventions; individual and group, for service users and families. Experience across a range of therapeutic models is essential including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Systemic Therapy and Mindfulness.
To be responsible for offering liaison and consultation to members of the multi-disciplinary team, liaising with colleagues within the inpatient mother and baby unit, the community psychology and psychotherapy service, local maternity services, as well as non-professional carers and other agencies on matters related to the psychological needs and issues relevant to the service and its users
To offer high-quality clinical and professional supervision to junior psychology colleagues and trainee clinical/counselling psychologists
To utilise research skills for audit, policy, and service development and research within the service

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or fully completed training as a Counselling Psychologist.
- At least two years full-time post-registration experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature.
- Full registration with Health Professions Council
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice including CBT
- Experience in neuropsychological assessment.
AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Assessed experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of adults of working age with a wide range of presentations of varying severity. Typically this would involve a minimum of 2 years at specialist level, or its equivalent demonstrated through CV and interview.
- Experience of working with complex and enduring mental health problems including: severe depression, psychosis and personality difficulties.
- Demonstrate further specialist clinical experience and training, through a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical / counselling psychologist over a minimum of 18 months, or an agreed alternative
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for client's psychological care and treatment.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision, including supervision of clinical psychology trainee(s).
- Experience working within a multi - disciplinary therapy service.
- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology.

- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively and well, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, caress and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

- Able to plan own workload; and coordinate with other relevant staff in the delivery of clinical service
