Job summary

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our team at The Crisis Centre Lister. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative person to work with us as part of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment service in the North, East and Southeast of Hertfordshire.

The centre supports service users experiencing an acute mental health crisis, aiming to prevent a crisis from deteriorating further by providing therapeutic interventions as part of the treatment plan for individuals usinglocal crisis services (CRHTTs).

Working within the multi-disciplinary CRHTTs, the service aims to provide home treatment as an alternative to inpatient admission. Service users attend the centre to access activities and community services.

Our team embraces a person-centred approach, and recovery-based philosophy. Promoting resilience and crisis prevention focussing on the whole person in the context in which they live. Offering support to carers and family members.

An ability to communicate effectively with a range of professionals is also essential.

Main duties of the job

This position is within the acute care pathway. Providing service for people presenting in acute mental health crisis. The postholder will take an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for service users in collaboration with the North, East and South-East multi-disciplinary Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment service (CRHTT).

The post holder will also have a responsibility to support the team in the development and implementation of a multi-professional service within the CRHTT building base within Lister Mental Health Unit. Providing high quality intensive treatment and support to meet the needs of people in acute phases of mental illness, and their carers', as an alternative to inpatient admission.

As a senior nurse within the team you will be required to support staff, contribute to team meetings, and service user meetings. Fulfil nursing duties including physical health checks and support with clozapine titration. You will be expected to provide 1:1 support to service users, as well as facilitate groups and activities as part of the MDT.

  • RMN/Dip (Mental Health)
  • Live registration with NMC
  • Experience of the role as practice supervisor for students.
