Job summary
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in the West Norfolk Community Learning Disability Team.
Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) became responsible for providing Intellectual Disability Services in Norfolk in 2008.
At present, it provides the following services:
i. Consultant psychiatrist input to the 5 community learning disability teams in Norfolk.
ii. The multi-disciplinary Norfolk Intensive Support Service (ISS), which aims to minimise inappropriate hospital admissions and promote timely discharges.
iii. The multi-disciplinary Norfolk Forensic Community Learning Disability (NFC-LD) team offering four distinct care pathways including consultancy, community treatments, hospital in-reach and access assessments.
iv. A 6-bedded Assessment and Treatment Unit, Astley Court, staffed by a multi-disciplinary team.
v. A 20 bedded Medium Secure Forensic Learning Disability Unit, Broadland Clinic, staffed by a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Undertake the clinical duties associated with the care of patients, including outpatient clinics, home visits and multidisciplinary case discussions.
To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed by consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust's personnel policies and procedures. This may include assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework.
To ensure that junior medical staff working with the post holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
