Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapy post - part time hours 22.5
A rare opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist in the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team at St Pauls in Hemel Hempstead.
This post is suited to an Occupational Therapist who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced setting where constructive Occupational Therapy outcomes are seen quickly. Occupational Therapy is an essential part of the treatment option within the Crisis Service, which supports individuals during the acute phase of mental ill health.
You will be supported by the Band 7 OT in the Crisis services and will work with the teams experienced and established Band 4 Assistant Therapy Practitioner. This role involves individual Occupational Therapy Treatment and there is scope for group work too. Therapy settings include the Crisis Teams base, the local crisis therapy unit, service users' homes and their local community. Therefore, access to a vehicle is essential.

Main duties of the job
Provide OT expertise within the Multidisciplinary Team, including OT assessment, individual and group work intervention in a variety of settings, including from The Orchards in Hemel Hempstead (the therapy base part of the service).
There will be an opportunity to provide links into the inpatient unit to help facilitate early discharge from the ward. To work closely with inpatient OTs and ensure a seamless service for the people using services.

- Apply a broad level of understanding of the effect of disability and recommend adaptations to the service users physical and social environment.

Essential
- Diploma / degree in OT
- State registration with HCPC
- Completion of Preceptorship at Band 5 level. Evidence of having met the full KSF Full Gateway for Band 5
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- To have an understanding of OT interventions used in mental health and have a broad knowledge of mental health conditions.
Desirable
- Membership of BAOT and/or specialist section
- First line management training
- Solution Focussed Brief Therapy training
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training
- Practice Placement qualification/APPLE accreditation
- Post registration experience in a relevant clinical setting
- Broad base of clinical experience
