Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a qualified mental health professional to join the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) at The Glaxo Unit.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative person to work within the team as part of the remodeled Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment service in the North and East of Hertfordshire.

The Glaxo Unit supports service users experiencing acute mental health crisis, supporting those in crisis, and providing therapeutic interventions as part of a treatment plan for individuals using local crisis services (CRHTTs). Working within the Multi-Disciplinary CRHTTs, the aim of the service is to provide home treatment as an alternative to inpatient admission. The team embraces a person-centred approach, and recovery-based philosophy. Promoting resilience and crisis prevention focusing on the whole person in the context in which they live.

Main duties of the job

You will have a responsibility to support the team in the development and implementation of a multi-professional service within the building base at The Glaxo Unit.

Providing high quality intensive treatment and support to meet the needs of people in acute phases of mental illness, and their carers, as an alternative to inpatient admission.

You must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues within the team and the wider MDTs' professionals, outside agencies associated people and services for the benefit of the service users and their carers.

You will be able to identify priorities in the service and deliver a high standard of care.

Demonstrate flexibility in approach to service needs.

Be actively involved in the development and facilitation of group work, with a willingness to facilitate and co facilitate group activities.

Job responsibilities

Function as a key worker to an individual or group of service users as allocated, taking responsibility for formulation of appropriate care plans.

Be actively involved in the development and facilitation of groups activities.

Liaising with all co-workers within and outside of the unit, ensuring they are fully conversant with all aspects regarding the service users care and treatment.

Identify the individual care needs of crisis service users, plan, implement and evaluate all care programmes in conjunction with this quadrants CRHTTs MDT.

Maintain close liaison with all departments and staff involved in a service users care, reporting on progress and effectiveness to the appropriate MDT.

Participate in clinical reviews, case conferences etc, and will prepare reports as required.

Be aware of all policy documents and legal requirements concerning the unit and ensure that these are adhered to eg local policy and procedures and statutory legislation.

Demonstrate clinical procedures to appropriate grades of staff.

Be fully conversant and ensure compliance with professional codes of conduct and practice.

If you have a good knowledge of mental health, are enthusiastic and have a flexible approach to work. The demands of the unit mean you must be versatile and flexible to meet the needs of the service users, also to be able to offer support and advice to carers and family members involved. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of professionals is essential.
