Job summary
We are seeking a Team Leader to join our Primary Care Mental Health Services in North Hertfordshire. If you are interested in working with accredited Mental Health Services in an outstanding Trust to develop and deliver our Primary Care Mental Health model of mental health care and support, then we would love to hear from you.
Our Primary Care Services cover a Primary Care network across North Hertfordshire and Stevenage. The area is well served with easy access to historic Hertfordshire and with excellent transport links into London and beyond.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Strategic Business Unit to deliver the services required under the Service Specification for Primary Care Mental Health Services, ensuring the highest standards of practice and service delivery.
To provide day to day operational management, leadership and supervision to Primary Care Mental Health Services Staff.
The Team Leader will manage primary care mental health staff ensuring that the needs of service users are met through the effective deployment of these staff. S/he will also maintain a clinical leadership role and/ or a caseload for more complex cases, dependant on sector need.
The Team Leader will contribute at a local level to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
The Team Leader will ensure, in collaboration with other professional colleagues that professional practice meets standards as set by HPFT and/or professional statutes and bodies.

Management and Professional Leadership
- To plan, prioritise and manage the delivery of a primary care mental health service including overseeing referrals and ensuring that there is an even and appropriate distribution of work across the team, based on the experience of team members.
- To ensure that there are adequate staff numbers organised appropriately around service user needs and to incorporate this into rota planning.
- To ensure that risks relating to service users, unmet needs and to the work environment are assessed and managed appropriately, ensuring that all team members know and understand their role in risk management.
- To work in collaboration with primary care, with the community mental health locality teams and with other HPFT teams as needed
- To ensure close working across primary care mental health with the Primary Care Mental Health workers, with the third sector and with social prescribers.
- To provide operational oversight of line management and clinical supervision to all team members Where necessary to make arrangements for appropriate professional and line management supervision to be available to all team members.
- To implement and monitor relevant operational policies and protocols, team systems and processes for the effective operation of his/her team.
- To ensure quality care standards and procedures which support the aims of Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Trust and the ethos of the Recovery Approach.
- To monitor the service caseload ensuring that the teams activities are targeted to clients/patients, fulfilling the agreed criteria.
- To ensure the continued professional development of all team members through annual individual performance reviews.
- To maintain the Team Leaders own professional registration and development
- In collaboration with the Service Manager, to undertake the timely recruitment selection, appointment and induction of team members.
- To manage the delegated team budget with respect to operational and service delivery costs.
- To effectively manage all aspects of the teams time i.e. Rota, Time worked, Annual Leave via the E Roster system.
- To monitor and manage, , all staff sickness and absences.
- To act for or on behalf of the Community Mental Health Service Manager as required from time to time in accordance with local agreements
- Where the Team Leader is an Approved Mental Health Professional to be prepared to participate in local AMPH rota where appropriate.

- Ensure the liaison with other services or agencies to support the primary care network response to mental health needs in primary care.

- Maintain service activities in line with the agreed referral and triage criteria.
- To provide a flexible service, responsive to Service User need and Stakeholder feedback.
- To develop the service in line with Trust strategy
- Maintain an effective skill/ professional personnel mix to provide a multi-professional team approach.
- Put in place systems to investigate and access a wide range of services designed to meet occupational, recreational, social and health needs in primary care.
- To provide information for service development and evaluation through the use of outcome measurements, audit and annual service policy review.
- Implement risk assessment procedures related to the working environment, tasks and client management.
- Against agreed criteria, measure the effectiveness of the Primary Mental Health Service team.
- To report on the activities and effectiveness of the team's interventions as required.
- To adhere to the HPFT principles of Practice Governance
- Agree and implement quality standards which reflect both local and national requirements. Build and develop best practice initiatives.

- Evidence of current registration with NMC, GSCC or HPC
