Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and welcoming Team Secretary / Administrator to join us in our Mental Health Services for Older people (MHSOP) covering North West Hertfordshire. This role is based in our Hemel Hempstead location - The Marlowe's Health & Wellbeing Centre. We are a large busy team, and provide assessment, care and support for people aged 65 years and older with a wide range of Mental Health conditions including Dementia. We also provide a Memory Service, a Community Team and a Crisis Function Team.

We are a Multi - disciplinary team, which include Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social worker's and support workers.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Team secretary is to support the staff in the team with administrative aspect of their roles, you will be expected to:

  • Have good administrative and computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Word & Excel.
  • Training is provided on using Paris our Electronic Patient Record System, E - Roster, ordering supplies, and managing petty - cash.
  • Minute taking is an important aspect of the role and experience is desirable, but training is available . On going training is provided and encouraged.
  • Importantly you must be able to meet and deal with people, and uphold the Trust Values of being Welcoming, Kind, Positive, Respectful & Professional.
  • Answering the phone in our office is an important part of the role and can at times be stressful. We receive calls from service users, their carers and other professionals, who will need to be supported in finding the information they need or be directed to someone who can provide this. On occasions callers can be very stressed themselves, and the ability to manage these calls sensitively is an essential skill.

Knowledge

Essential

  • RSA III/NVQ 3 or equivalent.
  • Trained and experienced at intermediate level in a range of software packages; Word, Excel PowerPoint
  • Good standard of English
  • At least 2/3 years experience in a secretarial environment
  • Experience in a mental health environment or NHS
  • Experience of supervising and training others

Desirable

  • ECDL qualification
