We are currently looking for an Advanced Physiotherapist to work across Hertfordshire for the Trust
To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment and treatment forservice users with complex mental health and physical health needs, andto provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and socialcare professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.
To provide this service within the adults inpatient units in HPFT:
- Oak, Swift, Robin and Owl- Kingfisher Court, Radlett
- Aston - Stevenage
- Albany Lodge - St Albans
To hold responsibility for own case load, working without direct Supervision takes the form of regular one to one sessions with the line manager/ Professional Lead, formal training and clinicalreasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences and reflectivepractice.
To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge and skills from theoretical and practical
To be responsible for supervision, education and assessment oftherapy assistants and to oversee the clinical supervision of more junior staff/students.
To undertake/lead evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and team's clinical practice within their area; to make recommendations to clinical lead/ head of service for changes topractice by the team; to implement specific changes to practice; to writeand/or contribute to service

To accept clinical responsibility for the Physiotherapy intervention for service users in own clinical specialty and in other specialties when required, and to organise the workload efficiently and effectively across the multidisciplinary team with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To formulate and deliver an individual Physiotherapy management and treatment programme, based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options; to use specialist assessment, clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment techniques.
To assess the service users understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with service users who lack capacity to consent to treatment
To empower service users in their decision making to form shared goals as required.
To carry out rehabilitation programmes with service users in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to maximise service users functional ability in activities of daily living.
To provide advice to the multi-disciplinary team regarding service users
physical abilities and on the subsequent management of any deficit.
To determine the most appropriate setting for assessment and/ or treatment for service users e.g. specialist unit, ward, community.
To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals; to promote understanding of the aims of Physiotherapy and to ensure a consistent approach to service user care.
To be responsible for ensuring the effective selection and use of all treatment resources available within the team and on the wards.
To research and select appropriate outcome measures and use these in the evaluation of clinical practice.
To evaluate service user progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes if required.
To assess and manage clinical risk within own and the teams service user case load, and report to other professionals as appropriate. This may include skilled therapeutic handling.
To contribute to the discharge planning process as appropriate, in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and effective discharge.
