Job summary
We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist who is motivated to help change the lives of individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their families. The post is based within the PATH Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. The post-holder will be based at our team base in Stevenage, working as part of a team serving people accessing services within East and North Hertfordshire.
Main duties of the job
You will be supervised by a Senior Psychologist within the EIP service and work alongside an MDT to support the delivery of holistic, evidence based care. The post includes assisting the psychologists and psychological therapists within EIP with specialist assessments (including administration of cognitive and standardised assessments inventories), preparation of professional reports, consultations to the multi-disciplinary team, specialist interventions (group and individual) and evaluation and audit of the service. You will join a dedicated and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team committed to developing the highest standards of clinical assessment and treatment for those experiencing early psychosis and their families . KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Honours degree in psychology, 2.i or above
- Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Experience of working with people with physical, mental health and/or other disabilities
- Ability to cope with (on a daily basis) exposure to patients with first episode of psychosis, and their families presenting with a range of emotional/behavioural difficulties, often with very distressing and traumatic histories
- Ability to and experience of multi-disciplinary team working and inter-agency collaboration
- Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to an EIP context
- Ability to take the appropriate action to address any issues or risks
- Awareness of Child and Adult Safeguarding Procedures
- Capacity to work independently, reliably and consistently on a day-to-day basis where work is managed and goals agreed and reviewed at agreed intervals
- Ability to work within limits of own competence and responsibility and to refer issues beyond these limits to relevant people or to seek help if necessary
- Experience of service quality monitoring e.g. clinical audit, evaluative research, etc.
