This vacancy is a 1 year maternity cover fixed term contract ( 4 days 30 hours per week ) or may be suitable for a possible secondment for internal staff, with your manager's permission.
If you are an experienced mental health nurse, we would love you to join our team in the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service - PATH (Psychosis: Prevention, Assessment and Treatment in Hertfordshire). Our service users are people experiencing psychosis for the first time and we are committed to delivering personalised and meaningful care.
The role will be working in the whole county of Hertfordshire, based in St Albans or Radlett.

Main duties of the job
Taking responsibility for making a significant contribution to the nursing input, participating fully in the referral and allocation process, assessments, treatment, risk management, safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, care coordination of service users as well as contributing to case discussions and service related meetings.
Offering consultations and supervision to colleagues and students as well as staff in other services.
Fulfil the role of a Nurse Independent Prescriber for a specific group of service users as per Trust policy and NMC requirements

To provide highly specialist assessments and evidence based interventions for service-users and carers drawing upon wide theoretical frameworks and national guidelines alongside PATH mini-teams.
To deliver timely, accessible services through both clinic based and outreach models.
To provide highly specialist advice and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to colleagues, external agencies working autonomously within professional guidelines.
To support mini-teams in the care co-ordination of service-users delivering highly specialist assessment and interventions when required.
Together with operational managers and senior clinicians, to provide clinical supervision and training on nursing specific areas to nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines in the service.
To actively participate in supervision, appraisal and professional development to enhance clinical skills, e.g. nurse prescribing.
To work collaboratively and provide nursing consultation to other relevant professions within HPFT and external agencies to build capacity in terms of the early identification and physical and psychological management of disorders and/or disability.
To work collaboratively with colleagues in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Care to improve existing service provision within the Trust thus enabling the effective management of care within the community, avoiding in-patient admissions whenever possible.
To lead and innovate in nursing practice in relationship to physical health, medication management, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), student nurse placements and management of medical devices within the service.
