Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 6Physiotherapist, with specialisedexperience within frailty&medicine for the older person to join our frailtyteam at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. This is a permanent part-timepost(33hours per week).
As part of an Integrated Therapy Team, you will work closely withOccupational Therapists&be clinically responsible for providinga timely, evidence-based service toolder people living with frailty. You will work on our inpatient wards as part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team.
You willbe responsible forthe clinical supervision&management of Band 5 Therapists andTherapy Support Workers.You will also provide support to the Rotational Band 6 Therapists&be encouraged toparticipatein thetrustwideBand 6 peer group meetings.You will take on a lead role as clinical educator for therapy students.
Clinical supervision&line management will be provided by the Team Lead Therapist. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership&management skills, working closely with senior members of the team as well supporting the team leads in managing staffing levels&caseload to ensureequitableprovision of therapy across the service.
You will be supported in your continued professional development&be committed to improving the quality&development of our service. Post graduate training is actively promoted.
Main duties of the job
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of practice, including the management of patients receiving treatment.
To undertake clinical assessment, including risk analysis, of patients presenting with simple and complex/multi pathologies within defined area of speciality.
To be able to apply knowledge and highly developed skills from a wide range of specialties e.g. respiratory, neurology, musculoskeletal outpatients, care of the elderly dependant on given area of speciality underpinned by evidence.
To use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to establish accurate diagnosis.
To use judgemental skills and comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy treatments to formulate individual treatment programmes based on evidence of best practice.
To regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan and adjust the treatment accordingly.
To use clinical knowledge to formulate a prognosis and recommend an appropriate course of action and discharge plan.
To maintain comprehensive, accurate and contemporaneous treatment records including valid consent appropriate to the intervention.
To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To be an active participant on the evening and weekend On Call Service, which includes advanced respiratory techniques and non-invasive ventilatory aids. This may also include the treatment of children. Rota will depend on Speciality
