Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Maxillofacial Prosthetist to join our team. This senior role involves working both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred prosthetic and technical services across a broad range of complex cases. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical, technical, advisory, and scientific support to both patients and surgical colleagues across multiple hospital sites, including the opportunity to manage their own clinics and work directly with patients to deliver compassionate, individualised care.
The department has a well-established CAD/CAM service, supporting orthognathic and head and neck surgical planning, and guided surgery. We are seeking a candidate with relevant experience in these areas who can contribute to the ongoing development and expansion of these services, taking a proactive role in innovation and service improvement.
The department is well positioned for further development, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to, and initiate, departmental research programmes. This includes advancing digital and CAD/CAM capabilities, ensuring they are fully integrated into clinical practice and continue to evolve in line with service needs. Throughout all aspects of the role, a strong commitment to delivering safe, effective, patient-focused care tailored to individual needs and experiences is essential.
Main duties of the job
To deliver an advanced clinical and technical Maxillofacial Prosthetic service to the appropriate clinical teams, and patients undergoing reconstructive procedures or rehabilitation using implants, guides, splints and prostheses
To support and contribute to tasks which support the departments Quality Management System
To support and contribute to tasks which support the departments COSHH
To participate in stock control and ordering of departmental consumables
To participate in teaching for the departments training programme
To support and deputise for the Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist as required

- 1 year minimum post-qualification experience as a Maxillofacial Prosthetist / Reconstructive Scientist in a hospital setting (oral and maxillofacial surgery) including organising of own clinic and attendance in theatre and MDT
- Highly developed specialist knowledge across full range of work procedures including incorporating CAD/CAM into the workflow
- Experience of invasive extra-oral, intra-ocular and intra-oral clinical procedures and operating theatre practices
- Experience in a dental and/or orthodontic appliance production environment, in a hospital or commercial setting
Desirable
- 4 year's post-qualification experience as Maxillofacial Prosthetist / Reconstructive Scientist
- Presentation at relevant professional conferences
