Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Orthodontic Technician to join our Maxillofacial and Dental Laboratory team. This role involves working both independently and collaboratively to support our orthodontic clinicians in the provision of high-quality, complex orthodontic appliances.
Our department has a digital infrastructure in place, providing a strong foundation for innovation and service development. We are seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic about digital technologies and, ideally, brings relevant experience to take ownership of this area - leading on the implementation, optimisation, and integration of digital workflows into routine practice. Full support will be provided to enable the successful candidate to drive this forward and enhance our digital capabilities.
The role offers the rewarding experience of working closely with multiple outpatient teams and clinicians across the Trusts hospital sites. A flexible and adaptable approach to working is essential, as the successful candidate may be required to support service delivery at Kidderminster Hospital when needed.
Main duties of the job
The post holders prime responsibility will be the provision of orthodontic appliances and associated dental technology services for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics, and other contracted agencies, for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post holder will be expected to manufacture and maintain a broad range of complex custom made orthodontic appliances; to include specialised functional, fixed and removable appliances and same day retainers.
The post holder should be innovative and highly motivated, with good communication skills to liaise with clinical and laboratory staff in the design and manufacture of appliances. They should also be capable of maintaining laboratory records complying with the latest Medical Devices Regulations. It is essential that the post holder is able to plan and prioritise their own work.
