We have recently opened a state of the art, multimillion pound simulation suite featuring an immersive room and a fully equipped simulation ward, designed to deliver cutting edge training for our staff and learners. As our simulation capacity grows, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Skills and Simulation Support Assistant. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who enjoys working collaboratively and takes pride in delivering high quality technical support. In this Band 4 role, you will help ensure the smooth running of clinical skills teaching and simulation based education by supporting the planning, preparation, and delivery of training sessions and helping to create safe, effective, and realistic learning environments. Working closely with educators, clinicians, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will maintain training spaces, set up equipment, organise learning materials, and provide hands on support during teaching sessions and simulation scenarios. This is an excellent opportunity for someone organised, proactive, and passionate about supporting clinical education to enhance patient care.

Main duties of the job

Simulation & Technical Support Prepare, set up, operate, and troubleshoot simulation equipment, manikins, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and immersive technology. Maintain, clean, and safely store equipment, reporting faults promptly. Assist with developing and testing new simulation scenarios and digital resources. Clinical Skills Teaching Support Prepare clinical skills rooms, equipment, and materials for teaching sessions. Provide hands on support during training, including setting up stations, replenishing consumables, and assisting educators. Ensure training environments are safe, organised, and effective for learning. Operational & Administrative Duties Support the scheduling and coordination of simulation and clinical skills sessions. Maintain accurate records of equipment use, stock levels, and consumables, ordering replacements when needed. Assist with booking systems, attendance registers, and learner documentation. Contribute to session evaluation by gathering feedback and supporting quality improvement. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with educators, clinicians, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality training. Provide clear communication to learners and staff about session requirements. Participate in team meetings, service development, and ongoing improvement of the simulation service.

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of the Skills and Simulation support assistant is to provide operational co-ordination of all technical aspects of clinical and non-clinical education within the simulation, clinical, classroom and virtual delivery learning environments across the organisation.

The post holder supports the planning, testing and delivery of simulation pedagogies, acting as the subject matter expert in high-fidelity and Technology Enhanced Learning equipment, facilities and approaches.

The post holder will work as part of the wider Education and Training Team in providing advanced audio-visual, multimedia, teleconferencing and facilities support to a range of training and conference events, as a customer facing member of the team.

The Simulation and Audio-visual Technician is responsible for the operational management, maintenance, and risk assessment of simulation and technological equipment within the training facilities.

The post holder oversees the training department intranet page and will work alongside the Digital Media Officer to maintain a presence on social media in the promotion of Worcestershire acute NHS Trust as a centre of simulation training department.

The department operates across all trust sites and the post holder will be expected to travel to different locations, where and when their role requires them to do so.

Key Duties:

General Duties:

Provides technical and operational support before, during and after simulation training activities.

Support simulation education facilitators in the operational management of teaching sessions and associated events, including participating in scenarios as required.

Synthesise data for use in simulation pre-briefing and debriefing, including audio-visual recordings, and other measurable outcomes.

Be the on-site subject matter expert in high-fidelity and Technology Enhanced Learning equipment and facilities, including mannequins, moulage, mixed reality equipment, audio-visual systems and simulation environments.

Work alongside educational facilitators to design, plan, test and evaluate simulation learning activities and scenarios across the organisation.

Provides technical support in the operation and troubleshooting of teleconferencing facilities across the training facilities to facilitate connectivity with external organisations and across the multiple sites.

Operational management of simulation intranet page, and maintenance of social media presence in the promotion of events and WAHT as a centre of simulation excellence.

Ensure each piece of equipment displays user-friendly guidelines that meet Trust and supplier recommendations.

Ensure all equipment is appropriately cleaned and stored after use and maintains the highest standards of maintenance within the centre.

Replenishes all training devices after each session across the trust sites as delegated and replaces consumables as required.

Monitor the life span of the equipment and resources and makes recommendations to the Academy/department leads for new purchases and upgrades to existing equipment.

Communication and Working Relationship Skills

Provide and receive and exchange routine information to inform work colleagues, service users and suppliers.

Work alongside educators across the organisation and Integrated Care System to support the safe and effective delivery of inclusive simulation and clinical teaching activities and events.

Provides front of house customer service during simulation events, demonstrating trust values, professional accountability and responsibility in all interactions.

Contribute to the pre-briefing and debriefing process through the provision of feedback, feed forward, audio-visual recordings, and simulation scenario related data.

Acts as a point of contact in relation to simulation facilities bookings across the department, working in compliance with the room booking protocol.

Maintains effective relationships with external companies and contractors in line with service contract, with a high standard of confidentiality regarding all information held in respect to service users and trust business.

Provides technical support to internal and external facilitators at conferences and events delivered within the training facilities.
