The Head of Facilities provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, and Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre. You will ensure all estates and facilities functions deliver safe, compliant, efficient, and patient centred environments that support high quality clinical care.
The role leads a broad portfolio including hard and soft FM, statutory compliance, maintenance, cleaning, catering, portering, waste management, security, and sustainability. You will drive continuous improvement, ensure adherence to NHS and CQC standards, and deliver excellent value for money.
Working closely with clinical and operational leaders, you will ensure the built environment enhances patient experience and supports staff wellbeing. You will also oversee contract management, budget planning, emergency preparedness, and the delivery of capital and lifecycle projects across a complex, multisite acute healthcare setting.
Main duties of the job
As Head of Facilities, you will provide visible leadership
across all Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust sites, ensuring our
environments are safe, efficient, and consistently focused on delivering an
excellent patient and staff experience. You will oversee a wide range of services
including cleaning, catering, portering, security, waste management, and car
parking, ensuring they operate to the highest standards and meet all NHS, CQC,
and statutory requirements.
You will work closely with clinical and operational
colleagues to make sure our facilities support high quality care and a positive
workplace culture. You will take responsibility for managing budgets and
contracts, driving value for money, and leading improvements that enhance
service quality, sustainability, and resilience.
The role also plays a key part in supporting capital
projects and refurbishment programmes, contributing to emergency planning and
business continuity, and representing the Facilities function at Trustwide
meetings and external inspections.
Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced NHS environment are essential.
