Job summary
The Trust has for some years provided undergraduate
teaching to medical students from the University of Birmingham and the
University of Warwick.
Following the University of Birminghams 2014
curriculum review, the College of Medical and Dental Sciences has established a
Clinical Teaching Academy at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which
provides clinical teaching for years 3, 4 and 5 medical students from the
University of Birmingham. Clinical teaching
is also provided for graduate entry medical students from the University of
Warwick and Three Counties Medical School (University of Worcester).
These
changes have led to an increase in the teaching demands on medical staff. For
successful applicants working full time (40 hours a week) exposure to a
clinical speciality of the successful applicants choice will be encouraged at
the discretion of the Head/Deputy Head of Academy.
This post is 0.6 WTE (24 hours per week) and if successful applicants want to
work clinically this would need to be arranged separately with the clinical
department.
Main duties of the job
This is one of a series of posts focusing on
undergraduate teaching of medical students at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals
NHS Trust. This role, is designed to support the teaching of undergraduate
medical students attending for Obstetrics and Gynaecology placements.
This 12-month post is suitable for more senior trainees
with existing educational experiences whose career would be advanced by the
opportunity to further develop their interest in education and teaching. This
might be of interest to registered practitioners who are studying for a higher
qualification, or writing up research. It may also appeal to higher trainees
who wish to take time out of a training programme, subject to the approval of
the appropriate Specialist Training Committee. Remuneration for 24 hours
(0.6WTE) will be at the appropriate local nodal point for Trust senior clinical
fellows, for daytime duties. Successful
candidates will be required to work across both the Alexandra and
Worcestershire Royal Hospital sites.
