Job summary

Housekeeper (Band 2) Worcestershire Acute NHS Hospital Trust - Alexandra Hospital.

There are a wide range of day surgical patients visiting our busy operating department at Alexandra Hospital.

You will need to be flexible, and adaptable and have a real team ethic as you will be supporting the theatre team to maintain high standards of cleanliness for our patients and visitors. You will carry out general cleaning duties in all areas of the department using appropriate materials and equipment. You will also be involved in safe storage of equipment within the department.

The post is full time 37.5hours (5 days) per week. Shifts start at 8am and finish at 16:00hrs.

You will attend the Trust Induction Programme and a local induction in your work area. Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level.

Main duties of the job

  • Clean allocated work area to the agreed standards and frequencies as detailed in work schedules. Carry out specialised cleaning tasks; including Theatre department, Theatre Corridors, Communal areas, office space ect...to the agreed standards and wearing correct PPE as required.
  • The recording of information so that accurate records of processes are maintained.
  • Have the ability to follow instructions and to suggest changes in working practices
  • Undertake the safe removal of body fluid spillages in public and communal areas in line with policy/guidelines
  • To clean using the correct method, equipment and materials.
  • Remove waste from work area and place at collection points in line with departmental procedure
  • Comply with the Trust Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Use mechanical equipment as required.
  • Report defective equipment to the team leader/department lead and estates.
  • Clean equipment after use
  • Use all cleaning chemicals in a safe and appropriate manner.
