An exciting opportunity has
arisen for a motivated Occupational Therapist with specialisedexperience in Frailty to join our dynamic
integrated frailtytherapy team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS
Trust. The post is 37.5 hours per week
The role will provide
operational & clinical leadership to the Inpatient Frailty & Medicine for
the Older Person team at Worcester Royal Hospital. You will work closely with the Therapy
Service Lead supporting & providing an efficient integrated therapy
service.
The role includes clinical
responsibility for providing an effective, evidence-based service toolder
people living with frailty. You will be part
of an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team working on the inpatient wards, providing early assessment & interventions to patients, supporting & facilitating their discharge from hospital.
You will be responsible for
the clinical supervision & management of rotational staff, static staff & therapy support workers, with additional support from other band
7s within the speciality/other teams. You will also have the opportunity of
supervising therapy students.
You will be require to participate in the MDT 7-day service for frailty
Clinical supervision & line management will be provided to you by the Therapy Service Lead in Frailty
& Medicine for the Older Person. You will be committed to improving the
quality & development of our service & our team, & are encouraged
to be involved in Quality Improvement projects.
Main duties of the job
To be a source of expertise, to identify, analyse, evaluate and
problem solve to enable the development and delivery of individualised
intervention and treatment programmes in a variety of settings.
To provide a consultative role with relatives and staff providing
advice, recommendations, support, training and instruction as identified.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous
practitioner, managing and prioritising own caseload and time. Maintain
appropriate records and data inputting.
To provide leadership and management on a daily basis to the
therapy team within specialist area, including supervision, appraisal and
development. To be involved in recruitment process for these staff.
To supervise, educate and assess the performance of students as
required. Work with universities to ensure the standard of practice and
teaching meets the requirements of the degree level qualification. To
contribute to the education of students from other disciplines.
To deliver training to multi-disciplinary team members ensuring
competence in performing duties within their agreed scope of practice.
To undertake Evidence Based
audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice, making
recommendations for changes. Leading the implementation of specific changes to
practice / contributing to service protocols, with own specialist area.
