The Pathology Department at
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is a UKAS ISO 15189:2022 accredited,
multi-professional, cross-site service. The Worcester site houses Cellular
Pathology, Microbiology, Haematology, Blood Bank, and Biochemistry, while the
Redditch site offers Biochemistry, Haematology, and Blood Bank services.
Additionally, Pathology manages point of care testing across multiple
locations.
The department comprises over 200
clinical and scientific staff members involved in both direct and indirect
patient care, supported by management, administrative, and clerical personnel.
With an annual budget of approximately £25million, the department serves a
patient population of around 550,000 and processes roughly 2.5 million tests
each year.

Main duties of the job
**This vacancy is currently only open to internal
applicants from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust**
The post holder will provide operational
management leadership for the Directorate working in partnership with the
Clinical Director.
The post holder will ensure that the
Directorate and its services meet their quality, activity and financial
targets.
To work with the Clinical Director,
Director of Operations, Divisional Director, and Matron(s) to assist in the
planning, objective-setting and change management within both the Directorate
and the Division as a whole.
The
post holder will be required to proactively engage in service transformation
and development, responding to changing environment, working with commissioning
colleagues to ensure that the service is fit for purpose and meets the changing
needs of the population.
