An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk on Medical Day Case.

Medical Day Case is a fast-paced unit delivering a range of delivering a range of specialist drugs and treatments to our patients

The ideal candidates will preferably have experience of working within a hospital environment. This post is aimed at an individual who has a willingness to learn, enjoys being busy and likes a challenge.

You will have a flexible approach to this role to enable the needs of the service to be met. The ability to organize your workload and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.

This post often involves being the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors and a calm, sensitive, friendly attitude is paramount.

You will be a core member of the Unit and you will need to be robust and dynamic to meet the demands of your role, only the most motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable of candidates should apply.

You will work as part of a motivated caring team and be seen as a valued member of staff.

Main duties of the job

Key Duties:

Receiving new patients and admitting them onto the Unit using the relevant IT systems and printing the appropriate admission paperwork/labels

Ensuring patients are aware of their next appointment and discharging them from the system.

Checking case notes, tidying and preparing them for scanning at the scan centre

Answering several phones on the Unit in a professional manner and conveying messages to the appropriate person

Photocopying, scanning and ordering paperwork required for the Unit

Assigned Tasks within Unit/Department:

1.To assist Unit with managing the calendars and diaries on the Unit. Communicate with other departments, memos to staff, etc.

2.To assist with reception and liaise with patients/relatives as requested by nursing staff.

3.Work collaboratively as part of an integrated team

4.Organise own day-to-day work tasks showing an ability to prioritise in order to achieve set timescales.

5.Ability to make decisions and take actions within the Unit environment relating to telephone and routine enquiries, whilst receiving support and supervision.
