Job summary
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated HCPC registered Radiographers that hold Post Graduate Mammography Certification to join our friendly, patient centred breast imaging team.
Hereford and Worcestershire Breast Screening Service provide mammography to an eligible population of approximately 130,000 within the rural counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and also a symptomatic service within Worcestershire.
We are based in a dedicated Breast Unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital site with state-of-art equipment. We also have enhanced breast imaging facilities at Alexandra Hospital and Kidderminster Treatment Centre.
We have 3 new mobile units, one permanently at Princess of Wales Community Hospital and 2 which move between eight sites throughout the counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
You will have the opportunity to rotate around mobile and static screening, assessment and symptomatic clinics to develop your skills, including breast tomography, VABs, stereotactic biopsy and CESM.
Main duties of the job
To work as a mammographer to a high professional standard producing quality mammograms while adhering to time constraints and ensuring a positive experience for the client to encourage re attendance.
To undertake complex and highly specialised techniques including the use of stereotactic equipment for wire localisations, core biopsy and VABs.
Checking patients/clients details prior to examination and ensuring that such details are present and correct on the request form/computer. Requests must be justified, as per departmental protocol and as per statutory regulations, Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R).
Ensures that all mammography and ultrasound images are properly labelled with patients name, side examined, and date of examination and coded if appropriate. To enter information of the examination into the Radiology Computer System/National Breast Screening Service(NBSS).
Have a flexible attitude towards the hours of work and participate in work and duties as required within the directorate.
To report and document any accidents/incidents to a senior member of staff.
Takes delegated responsibility whilst working on mobile units for the relevant legislation relating to Health and Safety, Ionising Radiation Regulations, Fire Procedure and procedures for ceasing screening when equipment fails to perform to quality and/or safety standards.
