Junior Sister/Charge Nurse Beech B

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 6 junior sister/charge hand within the general surgery division on Beech B. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated registered nurse to join us, assisting the ward manager in the smooth running of the unit with team management responsibilities and motivation to take the unit forward and provide the team with supportive and confident leadership. Sound decision making and acute clinical expertise is essential as well as the ability to bring out the best in their team members.

Training and development requirements including enhanced care will be identified at appointment and appropriate training will be tailored to meet the needs of the individual with support from the ward manager and matron.

Main duties of the job

Support ward manager and the staff with professional accountability and standards, ensuring professional practices are in line with the NMC code, the Trust values and the Trust procedures and policies.

Ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care.

Support the team to ensure environmental standards of cleanliness are maintained in line with national and the Trust standards.

In the absence of ward manager ensure smooth functioning of the department.

Support the development of junior staff and students ensuring appropriate supervision and assessment.

  • Deputises for the Departmental Manager and liaises with members of the multi-disciplinary team both within the organisation and with external stakeholders, to ensure care is delivered to the patient both effectively and efficiently
