Opportunity
has arisen for Healthcare Assistants on the Acute Stroke Unit.
The
Acute Stroke unit has a total of 26 beds; the unit also has a TIA Clinic with
dedicated Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialists and Stroke Support Workers.
We are
looking for Healthcare Assistants who can work in a busy environment, who
possess excellent communication skills, can maintain a high degree of confidentiality,
are enthusiastic and have a passion for giving quality patient care.
Duties
include providing a high standard of care by providing personal hygiene care, maintaining
patient tissue integrity and providing pressure area care, recording of
observations, assisting with feeding requirements, documentation overseen by a
registered nurse, assisting with mobility needs, communication to
patients/relatives/carers and working within the team to support your
colleagues in providing a positive experience for the patient.
Our
patients need care 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, so youll need to have
flexibility to workday, weekend and night shifts. In return, youll benefit
from flexible working patterns and unsocial hours payments and the opportunity
to experience working within a friendly supportive team.
Informal
visits are welcomed.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker you will be
responsible for delivering essential nursing care under the supervision of a
qualified nurse, this includes:-
- providing
personal care
- relaying
information
- assisting
with mobility
- recording
vital signs
- assisting
with feeding requirements
- communication
to patients/relatives/carers

will assist with serving meals and feeding patients, including reporting on
their intake and recording on charts as appropriate.

will assist with toileting, escorting patients to and from the lavatory and

and help to ensure the ward/department is kept clean, tidy and safe.

ensure that patients are kept comfortable and receive personalised care.

involved in patient booking in / admission, introducing patients to ward /
department area as directed by registered nurse.
You will assist with the recording and safe
keeping of patients property and valuables.
You will assist the multi professional team to
prepare and support patients undergoing treatment and / or investigation
maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
You will safeguard vulnerable adults.
You will report
to the nurse in charge of the ward / department matters of concern relating
to patients and the ward / department environment.
You will undertake
duties outside your working area (e.g. delivery and collection) to assist in
maintaining good communication.
You will ensure the
privacy and dignity of patients is met at all times.
You will be adaptable and flexible to working
in various areas of the department or ward as required.
