**This vacancy is only open to
internal applicants from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust**
This post is to support the team with booking in and allocating appointments for the oncology and haematology patients in the day unit. We are a busy unit and need a dynamic forward proactive scheduler.
This position can be flexible on working hours and could be over 3 days or 4 days or evenings if needed as we open till 8pm
Two part time posts are available covering monday to friday between the team of schedulers based at Rowan suite.
Main duties of the job
Using
the MOSAIQ system, book patients for their first treatments and
pre-chemotherapy consultations who attend the day case chemotherapy units.
Book subsequent
chemotherapy review appointments as required in the patient pathway using
the established chemotherapy outcome forms.
Interact
with patients and their relatives regarding appointments as required.
Ensuring that
target dates are strictly adhered to using the Somerset Cancer registry.
Make sure that all alerts are applied to OASIS for patients on active
treatment.
Liaising
with the medical secretaries to ensure that patients outpatients appointments
are booked in line with their chemotherapy appointments
Outcome all chemotherapy
appointments
Liaising with
senior staff on the units to ensure that adequate nursing staff are
available on each schedule before making the chemotherapy booking. To work from the outcome form provided
by the nursing staff.
To take
responsibility for updating patients details on computer systems to
maintain accurate patient information.
Provide scheduling
cover across the county during periods of annual leave and sickness. This
will involve travelling to other hospital sites sometimes at short notice. Ward
Administration duties and support to the Unit Managers and Lead
Chemotherapy Nurse.

patients with life threatening illnesses can be stressful.
Job Purpose:
Manage
and schedule treatment appointments for the oncology/haematology patients in
the day case units using the chemotherapy e-prescribing system.
Book
outpatients appointments for patients attending the day case units
Provide
administrative support to the unit managers and Lead Cancer Nurse when
required.
Support
and cover for the other Chemotherapy Schedulers during periods of annual leave
and sickness. This will involve travelling to other sites to provide cover
sometimes at short notice.
This post-holder has no line management or
budgetary responsibilities. The post holder will be expected to utilise a number
of computer systems used within the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals. The post
holder will be expected to be able to work under their own initiative with
minimum supervision following training.

chemotherapy nurses to assist with the smooth running of the chemotherapy
service within the chemotherapy suite this includes taking phone
messages/queries and escalating as required.
Register patients
as needed on MOSAIQ
Booking of Hickman
line insertions with the anaesthetic team as required.
Ensure outpatient appointments
are booked for patients on completion of their chemotherapy. Ensure that patients going on for
radiotherapy have been requested appropriately on MOSAIQ.
To liaise with
multi-professional teams and MDT co-ordinators to obtain information
regarding patients referred to the oncologists ensuring the patients
pathway remains seamless and timely as required. To work on Trust
computer systems and databases (once training undertaken) to ensure
appropriate and timely use of clinic appointments and clinical
interventions.
To take
