Job summary
This internal post is for a
Specialist Grade in Paediatric Oncology based at the Worcestershire Royal
Hospital.
This will be a senior role in
the team structure and will work closely with the Consultant lead for the
service and specialist nursing structure to deliver oncology services to
children as a POSCU (Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit) aligned with the primary
treatment centre of Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
The post holder will utilise
their highly trained skillset to manage the complex medical, emotional, and
developmental needs of young patients.
The majority of their duties
based at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital but will be expected to undertake
outpatient clinics in a variety of settings around the whole county, including
Redditch, Evesham, Malvern, and Kidderminster.
Main duties of the job
the post-holder will be expected to
provide a service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust,
General Practitioners and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings to support MDT care.
be responsible for the continuing care and treatment of
patients in their charge and personal performance of clinical duties as agreed
in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to and training of their
staff.
provide support to the ED and acute medicine to ensure timely appropriate care
and patient flow through the hospital.
provide consultation and advisory service
to clinical colleagues in the Trust and Primary Care.
collaborate with colleagues to deliver a high quality, timely service and
to work towards meeting the Trusts and
departmental objectives.
provide professional supervision, training and
management of junior medical staff,And enhance personal CPD.
participate in the middle grade on call
rota.
whilst undertaking non-resident on-call
duties, attend the hospital site to review patients
when clinically necessary.
participate in clinical audit as part of quality
improvement activity under local arrangements
commit to taking part in annual appraisal process which
will be undertaken by a trust approved appraiser.
