Senior Pharmacy Technician (aseptics and clinical trials)

Job summary
As a key member of the pharmacy cancer team, you will be encouraged to be innovative and forward looking and will work closely with the Pharmacy Aseptic Team to maintain and improve our high standards. The successful candidate needs to be highly computer literate. Our aseptic facility benefits from two pharmaceutical isolators and a friendly and hard-working team of technicians and ATO staff.
You will be a registered Pharmacy Technician with substantial hospital aseptic experience including strong GMP knowledge. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This role is integral to the maintenance and optimisation of our clinical trial portfolio and aseptic services
Main duties of the job
- Support the lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist in the running of clinical trials including receiving IMPs and development of SOPs
- Knowledge and awareness of GCP along with experience working with clinical trialsis essential for this role.
- Ensure that, under the direction of the Specialist Lead Pharmacist and Technician (aseptic services), the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, Health and Safety at Work legislation, SOPs and pharmaceutical guidelines relevant to aseptic and non-sterile dispensing are created and implemented to ensure that the service is risk managed for staff and patients.
- Undertake pre and in process checks on aseptically prepared products following accreditation.
- Undertake within SOPs the final accuracy checking of dispensed medicines including pre-packed and overlabelled items.
- Assist in the development of and the delivery of training and educational programmes for technical staff and students, which are competency-based, in line with national and regional standards, and internally, accredited for quality assurance, risk management and indemnity.
- Ensure all procedures, policies and assessments are up-dated and compliant with COSHH Regulations under the direction of the lead technician.
