Job summary
Due to the expansion of the EP service, also with furthering development of the complex devices services we have an exciting opportunity for 1 Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist to join our department. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to join our enthusiastic and expanding team of dedicated physiologists who are committed to continuous service improvement
Our most recent developments include diagnostic and complex EP and catheter ablation service including left sided procedures and RVOT ablation, conduction system pacing and ongoing expansion of our complex devices implant and follow up services. There will also be opportunities to work in all areas within our comprehensive range of diagnostic investigations/procedures which include cardiac catheterisation, PCI and primary PCI, and full range of non-invasive investigations.
We have 10 Consultant Cardiologists within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and the trust comprises of three hospitals: Worcestershire Royal Hospital, the Alexandra Hospital, and Kidderminster Treatment Centre. Although this post holder will be based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital there may be a requirement to work occasionally at the other sites within the Trust. All sites have good road and motorway links to M42 and M5.
Main duties of the job
To be fully competent and responsible for performing a wide range of complex and highly specialised non-invasive investigations, including analysis, reporting and clinical interpretation of results for their own patient workload and that of junior members.Opportunity to work towards supporting the invasive electrophysiology service, assisting the EP Cardiologists during complex procedures and support junior member of the team in training and development.To support the devices and ILR services assisting in implants as well as follow-up clinics.To be fully competent in haemodynamic monitoring in cath lab procedures ideally diagnostic, PCI and CTO.To provide high technical expertise, supervision, support and training to junior technical and medical staff.To produce technically satisfactory results in accordance with national and departmental standards.To communicate complex instructions and clinical information effectively to all categories of patients, ensuring co-operation and compliance to obtain accurate technical and clinical data.To analyse clinical information and clinical conditions during procedures, whereby judgement is required to determine the appropriate course of action.To ensure patients are monitored appropriately during investigations and ensuring swift and appropriate action is taken to minimise life threatening or significant medical events.
