Job summary

We are pleased to be able to offer a suitably qualified Cardiac Physiologist an exciting opportunity to join our rapidly expanding, friendly team of Cardiac Physiologists at the Worcester Royal Hospital. The post holder will be expected to perform 12 lead ECGs, Ambulatory 24 hr ECG/BP Monitoring and Analysis, Event Monitoring, assist with Medical & Physiologist supervised Exercise Tolerance Tests, work independently during angiography and PCI, and perform and develop skills in pacemaker and complex device follow up and implant.

As a family friendly department, we are able to offer this position as full time or part time. We are in the process of amending working patterns to include four days a week. In view of the proposed 7-day service we would be happy to accommodate weekend working, if this is desirable.

We have 14 Consultant Cardiologists within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and the trust comprises of three hospitals: Worcestershire Royal Hospital, the Alexandra Hospital, and Kidderminster Treatment Centre. We have an established complex device service, electrophysiology and primary PCI, all of which the post holder will have the opportunity to work within.

Main duties of the job

Provide Physiologist support during complex devices/permanent pacemaker and implantable loops implants. Analyse complex data and recognise when to re-programme appropriate parameters as per manufacturer and departmental policies and protocols for individual patients at device/pacemaker follow up clinics.Undertake a Specialised Physiologists role in the invasive PCI service based in the Cardiac Catheter lab. Perform unsupervised monitoring of cardiac haemodynamic, invasive intra-cardiac pressures on clinically high-risk Cardiac patients. Including preparation and management of balloon pump equipment for insertion of intra-aortic balloon.Perform as lead Physiologist in Cardiac Physiologist led Exercise Tolerance Tests. (ETTs) Without supervision, analyse and report the results of the procedure, in accordance with national and departmental protocols and procedures.Provide Physiologist support during medically supervised ETTs.Prepare, hook up, remove, download, analyse the recordings, providing written reports on 24 hr Ambulatory ECG recorders, Blood Pressure recorders and Cardiac Event recorders, according to the departmental procedures and protocols.Perform Electrocardiograms on all categories of patients within the trust.Responsible for setting up equipment, preparing and carrying out Tilt table testing for medically and Physiologist supervised investigations.Further develop highly specialist skills in CRM and work towards gaining accreditation.
